A Mother's Day gift in Brussels: make jewelry together with mum

In Belgium, Mother's Day falls on the second Sunday of May, and every year the same question comes back: what do you give a mum who says she needs nothing? Flowers wilt, and even the mum who keeps every card cannot keep every bouquet. A Mother's Day gift she can wear, and a bit of time spent together, is harder to forget. In our atelier on the Rollebeek, near the Sablon in Brussels, you can make a piece of jewelry side by side, open a box for two at home, or let her choose with a gift card.

A Mother's Day gift to make together at the atelier.

The simplest idea is the one people remember: book a table for two. A group workshop starts from 2 people, so it works for you and your mum just as well as for a bigger family. Each of you picks a base, a bracelet, a necklace, a keychain or a bag chain, and chooses charms from more than 150 types in every style. Everything is laid out when you arrive, the tools and our tips are included, and so is a drink: matcha, tea or homemade iced tea. There is nothing to bring, and your piece goes straight on before you walk back out the door. Would your mum rather watch than make? Friends and family are welcome to sit with you during the session. Only when the shop is very busy and someone is waiting for a spot may non-participants be asked to come back later. Not sure which format? See all the workshops.

Mother's Day gift idea: a box for two.

The Duo Experience Box is a jewelry-making kit for two. Its page says it is meant for the mum who keeps every card, and for the friend in another city. Each of you chooses one creation, and you can choose different ones. Inside you find the materials for two creations, 16 charms, pliers and work mats, a welcome letter, guided envelopes and writing paper, face masks, matcha and a keepsake box. After you order, you receive a personalization form by email to choose your creations. You do not need any tools at home. Open it at her table, write her a few lines on the paper that comes with it and make your pieces together. There are three versions, Essential, Connection and Signature, and Signature adds a pair of earrings each.

For the mum who would rather choose: a gift card.

You are not sure what she would pick? The Cherry PaoPao gift card lets her decide. It is delivered by email with a unique code, valid for 12 months, and she can spend it online or in store on charms, chains, the Experience Box and workshops. You can send it as a gift with a message, and plan the workshop date together later.

A piece with a story.

Some gifts say more because they took longer to make. Nora made a bagcharm for her mum's sixtieth birthday and started with a watermelon charm, for the summers her mum spent near Ostend. Our guide how to build your own charm bracelet walks you through the chain, the charms and the clasp, and the configurator lets you try combinations online. How to plan it.

Look at the dates on the workshops page, or give the gift card and let her pick a day. Never been to the atelier?
